Why Change Your Service When You Can Change Your Logo
Hi! If you like this post, please share it with others or subscribe to my full RSS feed. Thank you! :)
It has bugged me for some time that both Walmart and Days Inn have changed their logos. The funny thing is that their new logos are almost identical — mostly blue with a sun figure. This has been done to improve their less-than-glamorous image and reflect a new, more shiny outlook of the two corporations.
Clearly, we live in times when the cover of the book is just as important as its content, if even more important. Everything is about presentation, image, and packaging. People seem to be fascinated by design rather than substance. I am no different. Like every monkey, I am also impressed by the new, the fresh, the thing that is going to be only mine, until I find another toy to satisfy my superficial existence. Well, maybe I am over exaggerating a little bit.
Walmart and Days Inn are going to remain horrible, despite their change of logos. What bothers me is that in some little room, a bunch of robots are thinking of ways to change the way people think of certain corporations, by making a more “friendly” logo. Pretty soon, we will be living in a cartoon land, designed to appeal to an optimally targeted audience. All the shiny colors are going to soothe my helpless soul, while I find myself in a bunch of plastic.

this is so true!!! Guilty as charged.
and my blog is all about it. but as a consumer, i still am a shark in terms of assessing quality vs. presentation.

Yeah, well I think that if you truly have a passion about something, the quality is sure to come. You have a passion for making blog skins, so you study the art and improve yourself as time goes on. Some people have a passion for making money, without putting any effort into it, so they count primarily on image. Thanks for reading my blog

Why do you think Jeffrey is on top of the Toy R US, logo, how many times will a child or adult see a giraffe in their lifetime other than a strip mall.

@ threio - Jeffrey is a sell out and a disgrace to all hard working giraffes.

Thanks for the link to Brandcurve. I agree, changing service would be far more effective in the long term than changing logos.
